FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Everything you need to know about ordering, lab visits, and your results.
Getting started
Do I need a doctor's order?
No. Every test on USW includes a physician order from one of our partner-network providers, at no additional cost.
Do I need insurance?
No. USW is a flat-rate retail testing service. Insurance is not used and not billed. All tests are HSA/FSA eligible if you'd like to use those funds.
How do I know which test to choose?
If you're unsure, the Comprehensive Wellness Panel is the most popular starting point. Or browse by category — each category page describes who the tests are designed for.
Lab visits & at-home kits
Where do I get blood drawn?
We partner with the Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp networks — together over 4,500 CLIA-certified collection sites nationwide. After ordering, you'll receive instructions to walk in or schedule an appointment at the closest site.
Can I test from home instead?
Yes — many tests have at-home kit versions. Look for the 'At-home kit' badge on test cards. Kits include everything for finger-prick or saliva collection, plus pre-paid return shipping.
Is fasting required?
Some tests require 8–12 hours of fasting (typically lipid panels, glucose, comprehensive metabolic panels). Each test page lists fasting requirements.
Results & privacy
How quickly will I get results?
Most lab-draw results are delivered in 1–3 business days. At-home kits typically take 5–7 days from when the lab receives your sample.
Are my results confidential?
Yes. Results go directly to your secure online portal. Nothing is reported to your insurance, employer, or primary care provider unless you choose to share.
What if my results are abnormal?
Lab tests are screening tools, not diagnoses. If you have abnormal results, we strongly recommend reviewing them with a qualified healthcare provider.
Pricing & policies
What does it cost?
Prices vary by test, ranging from about $25 for a single marker to $250+ for comprehensive bundles. Each test page lists the retail price. No hidden fees.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Yes — all USW tests are HSA/FSA eligible. Save your receipt for reimbursement.
Are there state restrictions?
Some tests are not available in New York, New Jersey, or Rhode Island due to state regulations. Restrictions are noted on each test page.
